It’s certainly going to be a merry Christmas for Ilse DeLange. Today the Dutch songstress learned that the Common Linnets — the Netherland’s Eurovision 2014 act — officially have the most sold album of the year in the Netherlands! That’s a nice stocking stuffer, right?
The news caps off a fantastic year that saw the group break record after record. After a storm of criticism, their ESC song “Calm After The Storm” came second at Eurovision, and there wasn’t much more “calm” for the group: promo tours, TV performances and of course their debut album. After its release many of their songs climbed the charts in the Netherlands. Only a week after the release it went platinum.
The list of best-selling albums — which includes Pink Floyd and Coldplay — also includes other stars from Eurovision. Kinderen voor Kinderen, a children’s singing group which features Junior Eurovision 2013 stars Mylène & Rosanne, has scored the fifth and the seventh best-selling albums. Jan Smit (Eurovision and Junior Eurovision commentator and the host of Junior Songfestival) came sixth. Last but certainly not least it’s Anouk. Her album “Paradise And Back Again” was ranked eighth on the list. Her song “Looking For Love” was also on this album.
