If Taylor Swift’s “22” is a good choice for a 22nd birthday party, then ByeAlex has just given us a reason to celebrate our 30th!
Hungary’s Eurovision 2013 singer has surprised us yet again with his new single “30”. The song melds so many genres — rock, funk, electronic, and, courtesy of a harmonica, a bit of country-folk. The edgy tune is very ByeAlex. The lyrics speak of modern life and it’s mostly about women who, when they reach 30, become more mature and need real men. That in turn forces the guys to grow up.
And by force we mean force. Some may think the video is a bit sick — women morph into larger-than-life heroines and make the men go SPLAT! But ultimately it’s dark comedy, which ByeAlex serves up very, very well indeed.
ByeAlex came 10th in Malmö and has remained in the public eye. As an author, he published his first novel (and he’ll soon start his second). As a musician he has released tune after tune, and usually to a fair amount of buzz.
What do you think about 30? Love it or hate it? Don’t hold it back!
