Jelena Karleusa is funky, fresh and fabulous — but sadly she will not be singing for Serbia at Eurovision 2016.

Jelena, who already has 10 studio albums under her diamond-studded belt, broke the news to her fans on Twitter on December 9. She kindly included a pic of a Tweet we sent about her potential participation — love ya gurrrl.

Was she going to sing at Eurovision?

There were a lot of signs suggesting that she would. As you can see in the video below, Eurovision 2007 winner Marija Serifovic asked her Twitter followers what they thought of the idea. And previously Jelena had expressed an interest in participating, based partly on the public’s growing interest in seeing her on the Eurovision stage.

After doing some research, we count ourselves among them. As many of you have argued, the presence of juries at Eurovision has, in some ways, killed off wild and out-there acts (think Svetlana Loboda and Verka Serduchka). Jelena isn’t afraid to get crazy or get loud and we know she would give us a show and a spectacle at ESC. She owns the sex drop and bounces like it’s the last day of her life in this video for “Krimi Rad”.

Jelena Karleusa, Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé

Fashion would no doubt be part of that spectacle. Jelena has more than 770,000 Instagram followers who log in every day to ogle at her daring and outré outfits. We’re fairly confident that Beyoncé’s stylist is among them…

It’s called ORIGINALITY. You should try it sometime.

Jelena — who is known to speak up for LGBT rights — also speaks up for herself. It’s summed up best in this clip from the Wendy Williams Show, a popular American chat show that Jelena watches. Miss Karleusa laid it all out for producers, who sum the copying up nicely.

Are you sad that Jelena won’t be at Eurovision? Does Serbia need a diva with Jelena’s edge and attitude? Or do you want another Balkan ballad from Zeljko Joksimovic? Let us know in the comments box below…

I’m happy, I could see her getting some dated diva-esque song that belongs in 2006 not 2016 and watch as Serbia fails to qualify because of it.

Serbia always does a good show so I am not worried for them who they pick 🙂

“she is not manufactured’ LOL, common guys, she’s 100% fake! I understand you fancy her, but a 7,5 minute tribute to Jelena and no words about her vocals or music, it’s just all about her attitude (hooray) and clothing. Says enough for me, she’s got nothing to do with MUSIC

If she participate, Serbia wouldn’t be in final. Even, our neighbours wouldn’t give us points. We need someone like Bojana Stamenov.

‘My Baby don’t care for shows. My Baby just cares for me’ and ‘bitch stole my look’ segments. Besides, she’s a footballer’s wife and probably gets her kicks from making the American dream come true next.

Lesbihonest….she’s an established act (in Serbia) but would she risk the knock to her ego (I mean that in a nice way) if she lands not the right side of the scoreboard or even fail to advance from the semis??

Probably for the better though. She might be singing good pop tunes-that’s up for debate, but I can’t help to think it’s all trashy and shallow.
We need more quality entries and artists, not diva showdowns

The minute I heard this sad news, I started mourning. I can only hope that Serbia will choose her for next year.
