On Saturday evening Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala wowed the crowds at London’s G-A-Y, proving that she can serve disco realness and Whitney Houston whimsy just as well as she serves her ethnic ballad “1944”.
Afterwards the Ukrainian singer and fashion icon caught up with wiwibloggers Deban and William for a quick chat outside of the Heaven nightclub.
Jamala was as chatty and friendly as ever, and it’s clear that winning Eurovision has not gone to her head. Her stilettos are still planted firmly on the ground.
“I think my life changed, everything,” she says. “I’m touring now. I had concerts in Europe — Latvia, Germany, Poland and now I’m in London!”
She continued to preach LGBT tolerance, just as she did ahead of Kyiv’s recent Equality March and during her concert at G-A-Y.
“I have many gay friends in Ukraine and they are really so special. They have passion and they’re free inside. They’re like my birds.”
As Eurovision fans excitedly await the announcement of the Eurovision 2017 host city, we just had to ask her where we are going next year.
“To Ukraine,” she says.
LOL. But where? And what about Odessa, which she recently praised for its beauty and serene atmosphere?
“Odessa is a nice place to relax, to walk…but I’m not sure that Odessa is ready to host it.”

Thank you to Eurovision fan and concert-goer @NichoolasGibb for filming!
@ESC~Albania You are totally right but for one thing. All the artists, not only those you are mentioning, were willing to win, who doesn’t want to win? But they all came sincere and openhearted to sing their songs and dance together with the only exclusion. Guess who? Isn’t it a bit strange that exactly the anti-Russian song has won this year? No use explaining that it was a “personal story” since it wasn’t. Everybody knows this but not many people say this openly. Political songs are forbidden at ESC but this one was qualified. A country in war is not… Read more »
@Maru from Sergeyland @ (J)ESC Fanatici you haven’t to fight against each other. Jamala is a good artist and Sergey too, there is no need to fight each other. If I am right they knowed each other before ESC and no one of them hate the other. Sanja and Eneda, Samra and Iveta and others who hate each other’s country were together on ex. interviews & stage. You can see in the video for the remix of Fairytale Sanja, Poli and Eneda dancing, and in one interview Samra(speaking of Armenia and Iveta!) said that is all about music and not… Read more »
@Maru from Sergeyland
Lol
As I said before, pieces of trash like you are the reason I’m thinking of that…
@(J)ESC Fanatic “I`m seriously thinking of stop visiting wiwibloggs…”
Yeah please!! It would be GREAT!!! Nobody will miss you ))) Lol
But happily you won’t lose me on YouTube 😀
I’m seriously thinking of stop visiting wiwibloggs because of some annoying people here… Wiwibloggs, I will inform you when you lose me 🙁
We LOOOVE Jamala SOO MUCH !!!!!!
I want to strangle her in my arms! 😀 (because of love ofc!) Lol
… she’s talking to me and doesn’t even notice that I’m not replying…
And I never will.
@Plum
And excuse me but who are you? How dare you come here and mock me? I have been in this website for more than a year while you first visited it approximately 3 months ago. And why are you here? What’s your purpose here? You are not even a Eurovision fan! Get out of here and leave me alone!
@Plum
Well, I have already said it so many times but you seem to be very stubborn: I DON’T HATE RUSSIA!
But I hope people in your country are not like you…
You are not to be taken seriously, from now on I will ignore you.
@Lina
Please ignore her, this is the only way to plug this Wikipedia fountain. Don’t explain anything, it is useless. Let her hate Russia as much as she wants, this makes the sense of her life.
@Lina
Ignore her, otherwise she will drink all your blood ! haha…
@Lina I don’t know what it was about and I’m not trying to insult Sergey. When I say something negative about someone does it necessarily mean that I am insulting them? Did I say that he is a b*tch or an assh*le? I didn’t. I just reported something negative about him in order to show some people here that it’s not nice to mock others just because they are from a specific country (*cough* *cough). And please stop saying that I hate Russians and nonsense like that. I love Polina and many other Russian singers and I have also said… Read more »
@(J)ESC Fanatic
Which facts are you telling? You are just trying to insult Sergey. You are reffering to Tabloids, which are considered wholly untrustworthy. This phtosession was made agains woman violence!!!
@Plum
I’m sorry but you are wrong. I always say the truth. I have said both good and bad things about Russia. You and Lisa on the other hand, always say bad things about Ukraine and their artists and good things about your country. Please try to be a little more objective and a little less biased and it will do you good 🙂
@ Lina,
Please don’t reply anything more to this “facts reporter” otherwise there will be no end to it. She never stops umtil she spreads all her dirty facts about Russia from her dirty Wikipedia, yellow press and her own fantasy.
@Lina
I’m not hating. I’m just reporting facts. You are the one who is hating on Jamala just because she is Ukrainian and because she won over your country. Let it go, darling… let it go…
@(J)ESC Fanatic
OMG! Wikipedia expert is reading yellow press.
These fotoshooting was against women violence. It was made more than 10 years ago.
You so primitive
And the one who is hating here
I see that the government of mama Russia did the best they could in order to wipe the infamous image from the internet… Shame, shame, shame…
You should stop hating on Jamala and mocking her, Russians. After all, your Sergey has a dirty little secret… he he he…

@Maru from Sergeyland Lol
They had been acquainted long before they met at ESC2016 so what?.
Sergey supported her in some 2008-2009 (really don’t care for HER dates). He is too nice.
My King with some Jamala on one picture..! 😀

Too much “dancing” around the hosting city. Has anything of the kind happened before?
funny vids:))) Awkward much. & the outfit LOL I’ll show them to my freands to have a laugh
Vladimir P.
Because other cities don t have big sport arena or even arena, they don t have many hotels…
It will be Kyiv. Too bad that all countries in former eastern Europe choose to have Eurovision in their capitals. Too bad other cities do not have the opportunity.
@davve
If Jamala is not a great singer who is? Whitney and Mariah? They don`t participate in ESC.
Well that seals it in my opinion we’re off to Kiev.
Dnipro is in the race because they are building an arena but it’s a small city close to Russia with no direct flights so NO.
Lyiv should have been in the top 3 instead of Dnipro!
Odessa is a beautiful city with history but they lack facilities and direct flights.
Kiev will probably host it but it will be a small contest if they opt for Palace of Sports.
@Zebb @Leo Valdez,
I never said Dnipro was out of the race, I said I never understood it but I have to admit the arena looks pretty amazing.
The only thing I said in my comment was that I think now that Jamala doesn’t support Odessa anymore their chances are gone.
How awkward does Jamala look in the pic?!?!?
@johanleekens, they are still in game because of interesting proposals, both at financial and idea levels and yet these bids are seasoned with so different obstacles so you can’t really run for Kyiv only 🙂
@johanleekens
I think Dnipro has more chances now
As they want to renovate the arena:

I think the only reason Odessa is with the last three, is because Jamala praised Odessa, so now that she says she’s not sure, Odessa is out for sure.
I have never understood why Dnipro is still in the competition so I think now it is for sure that Kyiv will host, which is a shame, I really liked Lviv.
