Conchita Wurst – the bearded sensation who put Austria back on the Eurovision map in 2014 by scoring it’s second victory with the James Bond-esque hit song “Rise Like A Phoenix” – has re-branded himself as WURST for the two new singles “Hit Me” and “Trash All The Glam”.
With a new look and a new thumping electronic sound, Tom Neuwirth is yet again pushing the boundaries of his alter ego.
WURST – “Hit Me”
“Hit me with the bullets you make up in your head” is the new chant of empowerment in his latest track “Hit Me”, written and produced by Eva Klampfer and Albin Janoska respectively. Bold, sassy and unapologetic, WURST gives his fans a deeper insight into his private life. He takes the reign of control by serving as the creative director for his video releases, and providing self-styling.
At first, this dance track seems unusual for WURST. He has often performed big ballads. But, the lyrics here nod to his familiar offerings: “You don’t get to point the gun and you don’t get to force my hand, cause I don’t get to mend the matters, I don’t get to fight back.” Even though there are guns and projectiles pointing at him, WURST remains firm that no threat has the power to harm him.
“Hit Me” is the second single off Tom Neuwirth’s upcoming third album Truth Over Magnitude. This release is showcasing a more masculine version of the Austrian star, and sparks a new musical direction. Though we caught our first glimpse of his platinum blonde look at the Life Ball last summer.
WURST – “Trash All The Glam”
“Trash All The Glam” served as the first cut from the album. The dance performance of the music video was our first hint at the artist’s newly developed body control.
A strong visual and sound departure from his previous work, but very courageous in tone. Sparse and eclectic, yet at the same time hooking you in without relying on a predictable formula. This is a different Conchita, y’all!
After his platinum-selling 2015 debut album Conchita, and his successful follow-up album with the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra From Vienna With Love, Tom isn’t resting on his laurels.

Hey Deban, have you watched the live performance? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se3J05dAhEw
Conchita was brilliant. This is just not very well written electro pop and an uninteresting new ‘character’. No thanks!
I love him and I love her. Full stop. You don’t get to see real creativity and artistic integrity much, but here’s a full-blown example.
Wurst looks like a slim version of Bulgaria’s Azis.
I love Conchita’s new look.
Santa Claus? Is that you?
Hello Santa. Isn’t it too early this year?
What a change!
Winter is coming!!!
If I remember she was announced as an interval act in Tel Aviv… So will we still see Conchita?
serving silver daddy
Serving mind control, this person is not free anymore. Just like Kristian Kostov and Mikolas, becoming blondes/white hair suddenly. It’s the ritual.
What are you smoking, mate
She is MK Ultra victim
A great artist , no doubt about it but I miss Conchita .
Love Conchita and love this new facet of Tom Neuwirth! The two songs are amazing – so different in music and colors. Thrash All the Glam is literally darker while “Hit me” is blonde and almost cheerful – but both with the raw naked proud message: This is MY life and I won’t take any more shit!
Already on repeat! 😀
What an inspiration!
Such an underrated artist. Love him!
What a versatile artist!
He looks like Cillian Murphy in the thumbnail.
I guess, this is the actual Tom Neuwirth as an artist? I miss Conchita, but getting Tom Neuwirth also turned out to be great!
Very cool.
Release the album so I can buy copies to thrust on friends for their birthdays 😛
Hit me is a great song actually. I think I’ll downoad it. ?
So first he was her and then she was him again?
Tom had a drag character called Conchita, and now Tom is performing under the alter ego Wurst. It’s only confusing if you really try hard to be confused.
My take on it is that the artist created a character named Conchita Wurst. In fact I think I must have heard it before. The name is very witty at least, Conchita (Spanish slang but I don’t want to get graphic here) makes reference to female parts and Wurst to male parts.
He is a genius and he is so talented! It’s always exciting to see him growing as an artist. Looking forward for the second album
so meh. sorry, next
Intense atypical universe of the big great artist.
Eyes and heart touched by the pure style and mixed origin,
Conchita win the second time eurovision.

I’ll miss Conchita. So graceful.
