She was announced as the representative for San Marino at Eurovision 2020 only last Friday. And now Senhit has her song for Eurovision too. Are you ready to get “Freaky!”?

Senhit will sing “Freaky!” at Eurovision 2020

“Freaky!” emerged as the winner in the Senhit’s digital battle, the online selection competition launched on the singer’s website last weekend, which lasted less than 48 hours.

The song also ranked first in our readers poll.

Senhit announced the results through her social channels, sharing the official video of “Freaky!”.

The clip is directed by Luca Tommassini, creative director, who will also take care of the staging for San Marino in Rotterdam.

The colorful video was shot in Rome, in Cinecittà, the largest film studio in Europe, considered the hub of Italian cinema.

Senhit is surrounded by five dancers — Ilaria Cavola, Milena Garofano, Matteo Paoli, Jodi Proietti and Federica Rigoli.

She gives us green screen realness, offering different eclectic looks. From sporty girl to leather mistress, passing through Afro LGBTIQ queen.

Our girl is freaky freaky freaky and gives the song addictive energy!

Reacting to the song, our William commented:

“We need a flavour this year. ‘Freaky!’ is bringing a new flavour. It’s funny. I see why people would really enjoy it. It’s fun, not a guilty pleasure, a pleasure… maybe with a little bit of guilt, I don’t mean that to be offensive”.

“This is gonna have its fans. I can see my aunties loving this, but then also young people who like funky. I’m thinking 70’s disco revived, given a modern edge. It’s very polished, it sounds expensive to be honest. This fits Senhit’s personality. She’s very upbeat, bubbly, in control and empowered”.

San Marino at Eurovision 2020

San Marino is set to compete in the first half of the second semi-final.

Turkish singer Serhat represented San Marino in 2019, achieving a second historic final for the microstate with the entertaining “Say Na Na Na”. He then finished 19th in the final — the best result for San Marino at Eurovision — placing 10th in the televote.

What do you think of the song choice? How do you rate Senhit’s chances? Let us know in the comments below!

Disco EDM. The song is catchy and enjoyable. Its not a winner but its actually good.
I am concerned about San Marino qualifying though. This kind of songs usually isnt very appealing at Eurovision.

Well, the song is something I’m neither mad at nor mad about. BUT I think Senhit seems like a lot of fun and really friendly, and doesn’t take herself too seriously like sometimes the much younger entrants have done recently. She seems like she’d be fun to party with and, even if the song is all over the place, she gives it a really good vibe.

Senhit and San Marino, you crazy things, I will be voting for you to go to the Grand Final!

I kinda like it and it doesn’t look cheap. The song is enjoyable and a hoping for a killer performance. Not stunning, but could qualify. San Marino can be proud this year. Next year I would like to see Miodio making a comeback. They didn’t deserved that last place.

Ok for this to work they need to go full retro. Not cliche with disco balls, but full retro glam.
Fingers crossed Luca can give them some Italian sophistication they need for this. We know Senhit can sing so that half of it already.
If they can pull this off I won’t be mad at it in the Grand Final.

Mark my words, all of you: San Marino ain’t fooling around this year. Yeah, I liked Obsessed better and am still warming up to this one, but according to my source, something big is coming from our favorite microstate. A game changer. I was incredulous too, but I know I wouldn’t be lied to about such matters. Everyone looking down on San Marino is going to eat their words. At the very least, we’re headed for qualification #3 unless things go horribly wrong.

Groovy! “Freaky” is old-fashioned, but not cringy (I still remember Belgium 2007, that was a torture). There are some BDSM hints in the video and the song itself, San Marino is serving us some Hatari – lite version, which I totally did not expect. The message may be controversial for some, but I can’t help loving this song, it’s definitely a party banger. Senhit certainly promises an extravagance stage show with that clip, I just can’t wait to see it being performed live in May.

2007. What a different time. Italy hadn’t come back, the Czech Republic debuted in last place, Finland sent an entry the year before that was good enough to win, Turkey was a serious contender, Andorra was the resident microstate, and we were introduced to Verka Serduchka for the first time. The only common link is Edsilia.

2007, the year Andorra almost qualified. I’m not a huge fan of Anonymous, but damn, they were so close. An unbelievably strong debut of Georgia, “Visionary Dream” was truly visionary, it wouldn’t feel out of place in ESC 2020. Magdi was my favourite, blues rarely works in Eurovision, but that was one of those remarkable instances.

With 38 songs out, I’ll try to do the math and see whether this year is *so* slow in tempo as perceived? Note, I’ll sort the songs by tempo, not genre. Not all slower songs are ballads, while some ballads might be more mid-tempo. So, by my count: Slow tempo – Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Poland, Portugal, Finland, Albania, Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia, Slovenia, Norway, France Mid tempo – Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Spain, UK, Australia Uptempo – Iceland, Israel, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Greece, North Macedonia, San Marino, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Serbia, Czech Republic, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Ireland So, 14 slow… Read more »

Will probably qualify with at least decent staging: Iceland, Greece, Switzerland. Needs a bit more engaging staging but still safe: Bulgaria, Serbia Needs a freaking cool staging to make qualification a lock, but I can still see it possible: Moldova, Portugal, San Marino, Czechia, Armenia. I dont really feel these songs can be saved: Poland, Estonia, Finland, Albania. I have, sincerely, no clue how they could perform, because they are either underwhelming or too over the top: Latvia, Austria, Georgia, Denmark My dream qualifiers: Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Iceland, Latvia, Moldova, Portugal, San Marino, Switzerland, but seriously, I’m passionately protective… Read more »

By San Marino’s standards (we know they play a different game in Eurovision), this is pretty good. It’s silly and “easy” enough to please the underdog’s supporters and can be fun and visually appealing enough to give them a chance to get more voters behind them. But I wonder how they could do if they tried to do something different, like bringing a rock band, a rapper or even a pop song in Italian. Well, maybe next time.

Wow Senhit ain’t fussy is she? 😉
I like the video …the song not so much but look San Marino is a tiny tiny nation with limited resources so I credit them for bringing something of this scale, it’s better than Serhat though in my opinion.
Look, they’re here for the craic and banter, let them have fun.
Probably won’t qualify but stranger things have happened at ESC, with memorable staging and certain stars aligning, it’s not completely outside the realms of possibility.

I am so ready to get Freaky! with Senhit. My gosh, I liked the studio version, but the video really elevates the song, I am SHOOKETH. This is easily the best Sammarinese entry ever, now it’s confirmed. Some comments put a smile on my face, actually. If this was the entry of another country, fans would be all over it. San Marino always has to deal with people spreading unnecessary hate and wishing the country last place in the semi, or even to announce their withdrawing from the competition. Awful.
