Greek songwriter and producer Dimitris Kontopoulos is keeping music fans entertained during these difficult times. He’s been busy re-connecting with singers for whom he wrote some pretty epic hits and recording them in acoustic for his #Qsessions series on Instagram.

Q, of course, is for quarantine. But through these online sessions, Dimitris is bringing the world together. Recently we told you about Stefania delivering “Superg!rl!” live in acoustic. And now it’s the turn of Eurovision 2016 televote winner Sergey Lazarev.

Sergey, who collaborated with Dimitris at Eurovision 2016 (“You Are The Only One”) and 2019 (“Scream”), decided to perform the latter. The song captures many of our feelings during these strange times when people are suffering and when half the world is experiencing some form of quarantine or lockdown.

Writing on Instagram, Sergey said:

“Even in this difficult time, when we do not have the opportunity to meet with our beloved friends or even work, we are still thinking positively and coming up with musical experiments!”

“I am at home in Moscow and singing, and my friend, the Greek composer and one of the authors of the song ‘Scream’, Dimitris Kontopoulos @dimitriskontopoulos is in Greece and accompanies me! Cool! Hope you enjoy it! Let us be strong and survive this worldwide quarantine! Stay healthy!”

Sergey is the latest in a growing list of stars who have participated in Dimitris’ #Qsessions. Sakis Rouvas (Greece 2004 and 2009, and the host of Eurovision 2006) performed “Parafora”, while Demy (Greece 2017) tackled her collab “Oso o Kosmos tha exei esena” with Mike. Tamta (Cyprus 2019) took on “Ilious kai thalasses”.

All three songs topped the Greek AirPlay charts for months and remain among the biggest hits for each of the artists.

I must admit I didn’t care for this song at Eurovision last year but really enjoyed this version.

Anyone notice the fact that Dimitris is wearing a Dihaj shirt, specifically a shirt for their 2017 Eurovision entry “Skeletons?” As far as I know he didn’t write that song, so I assume he must be a fan.

Or maybe he the writer behind “Skeletons” and this was the time for him to come out ? He is known for ghost writing ESC entries

Such a brilliant singer. If Sergey had represented ANY country other than Russia he would have won Eurovision twice. Unfortunately too many people in Europe associate him with Russia stealing Crimea, downing MH17 and Russian politics in general. So sad for him!
