Eurovision 2015 Building Bridges Vienna

Every year the responsible host broadcaster puts a lot of thought into the contest motto. But who came up with the most innovative concept? From “Share the Moment” to “Dare to Dream”, there is a lot to choose from.

Some months back, we asked you to vote for your favourite Eurovision slogan of the 2010s. And now the results are in!

After counting a total of 3,189 votes, we can confirm that Eurovision 2015’s “Building Bridges” is your favourite Eurovision slogan of the 2010s.

“Building Bridges” is your favourite Eurovision slogan of the 2010s

Eurovision 2015 in Vienna was special for the entire Eurovision family as it marked the contest’s 60th anniversary. “Building Bridges” referred to both musical and cultural ways of building bridges to different cultures and people all over Europe — and even beyond, as Australia made its competitive debut at the contest.

This catchphrase attracted 521 votes or 16.34% of all votes cast.

In second place we have 2019’s “Dare to Dream”. The logo, made up of layering triangles, resembled a star. Unsurprisingly, the idea was to show that the “future stars of Tel Aviv” are coming together for Israel third hosting of the contest.

A total of 465 votes came in for this offering — that’s 14.58% of all votes cast.

The top three is completed by “All Aboard!” from Lisbon 2018.

The main emblem of 2018’s slogan “All Aboard!” is a seashell. This resonates with the maritime roots of host city Lisbon. as well as Eurovision’s fundamental values. And in keeping with the slogan, the 2018 contest welcomed aboard a record-equaling 43 countries.

In terms of profiling and branding, the Vienna edition is the best in the last decade.

I agree that Building Bridges is the best but All Aboard 3rd? Really?

Yeah, because instead of being bland rhetoric, it sells its inclusivity message in a fun way – one that reflects the history of the host city, and the maritime theme on display at the contest.

Remember that people can vote for their own country on these polls. The 2018 stage made me too five, when more than one stage from the 1990’s were significantly better. There are a lot of Portuguese readers here.

I’m a little disappointed our overlords didn’t pick my similar suggestion ‘Burning Bridges’. Maybe for the next one we’ll win.

I guess 2015 had to get something right, eh?
I would’ve had the two Swedish contests at the bottom in this poll. Both are a bit meh. I tink the slogans have generally been improving and even though 2017 and 2018 were probably my favourites, 2019 and 2020 were also pretty good.

I agree with the results, except that I would have ranked 2014 higher because it’s very simple yet effective imo. My favourites would be 2018 (I really liked the idea of mixing Portuguese tradition with the slogan) and 2015 too.

What I understood from the slogan is that everyone is welcome in the celebration of ESC (which is the boat somehow). I think it was amazing
