In the months and years after Eurovision, most songs from the contest can’t be found on the charts, but plenty will find themselves on Eurofan playlists. So way back on June 17, we asked our readers which songs they were still listening to. You guys voted up a storm, casting a total of 19,330 votes. Now the results are in and we can crown the winner. Iceland’s Daði & Gagnamagnið have won the day with “Think About Things’’.
The Songvakeppnin winner earned 976 votes — or over 5% of all those cast. It’s not that surprising. The Icelandic group had one of the most viral tracks of the year and has smashed multiple chart records, like becoming the highest-charting Eurovision entry since 2014. The ”Think About Things” music video has clocked more than 14 million views.
Daði & Gagnamagnið join some very good company. Italy’s Mahmood won last year with “Soldi’’, while Cyprus’ Eleni Foureira won in 2018 with “Fuego”. In 2017, Belgium’s Blanche won with “City Lights”, and Poland’s Michal Szpak won with “Color of Your Life” in 2016. Sweden’s Måns Zelmerlöw won with “Heroes” in 2015, while Israel’s Mei Finegold won with “Same Heart” in 2014. Romania’s Cezar won with “It’s My Life” in 2013, Ireland’s Jedward won with “Waterline” in 2012, Sweden’s Eric Saade won with “Popular” in 2011, and Turkey’s maNga won with “We Could Be the Same” in 2010.
