The anticipation for the return of Melodifestivalen 2022 is reaching fever pitch. We don’t have long to wait before heat one gets underway in Avicii Arena.

Seven acts are set to do battle. They’re all hoping to secure one of the two tickets direkt till final, or at least a trip to the second chance semi-finals.

Following the reveal of one-minute clips for each of the songs, we asked you to vote for your favourites. A total of 1,074 votes were cast and we’re now ready to reveal the result.

Note that this poll was solely done based on snippets of the songs’ audio. Opinions may very well change once we hear the full songs performed live.

Cornelia Jakobs and Omar Rudberg are favourites to win Melodifestivalen 2022 heat one

Winning this poll is Cornelia Jakobs and her song “Hold Me Closer”. She received 280 votes, which is 26.07% of the total. Cornelia previously competed at Melodifestivalen 2011 and 2012 as part of the group Love Generation. She now makes her solo debut at Melfest – and what a debut it could be if the result of this poll is anything to go by.

The other act y’all want to see progress straight to the grand final is Omar Rudberg. This is the star’s third appearance at Melodifestivalen, after 2017 (with FO&O) and 2019. His appearance in the hit Netflix show Young Royals has boosted his popularity across the globe, making him a pre-contest favourite. The snippet for his Melfest 2022 song “Moving Like That” picked up 222 votes (20.67%).

In third and fourth place, and therefore the acts you would send to the revamped second-chance round, are Robin Bengtsson and Malou Prytz respectively. Both are past Melodifestivalen finalists, with Robin also a winner in 2017.

If the results ended up in a similar fashion to this poll, that would mean Theoz, Shirley Clamp and Danne Stråhed would have to say goodbye after the confetti falls.

Poll results: Who should win heat one of Melfest 2022?

  1. Cornelia Jakobs – “Hold Me Closer”, 280 votes (26.07%)
  2. Omar Rudberg – “Moving Like That”, 222 votes (20.67%)
  3. Robin Bengtsson – “Innocent Love”, 207 votes (19.27%)
  4. Malou Prytz – “Bananas”, 145 votes (13.50%)
  5. Theoz – “Som du vill”, 137 votes (12.76%)
  6. Shirley Clamp – “Let There Be Angels”, 60 votes (5.59%)
  7. Danne Stråhed – “Hallabaloo”, 23 votes (2.14%)

Total votes: 1,074

OMG the night was a total mess, the app didn’t work and only regular phone votes were counted…at least Cornelia went through but the rest of the songs are not even worthy being in MF in the first place, sooo bad. I am pissed at Omar! Why the f did he pick that bland song? Was his own fault he did not get through to semi or the final

Congrats! I never would have expected Danne to even make it to the semi final, but kind of happy for the sake of a little musical diversity/something Skanska-esque 🙂

Dang, looks like the melo app malfunctioned during Theoz’ performance? I didn’t quite catch what that means for the acts to be selected but since Oscar mentioned voting by phone, I wonder if this might mean app votes won’t count? 😮

I am a Cornelia Jakobs fan so this might be biased. Her song gives me ESC winner vibes, the kinds you only get from a few songs like Euphoria or Arcade. I have been wrong before, since I thought Wiktoria with Save me would be the winner of that year’s ESC but one can only hope. The song is as grand as the contest requires and it hits right in the feels. beautifully done and she did herself justice with that song. She stayed true to her roots and sound and didn’t try anything funny. Regardless of tonight’s results she should… Read more »

I don’t see anything original or groundbreaking, not even something I actually like, but I’ll go with Cornelia, Omar, Malou and Robin.
Regarding Robin, I think it’s his worst song within a rather generic discography, but still it’s better than the ones the entry is ahead of and it’d be delusional from me no to put him among the qualifiers, given that we’re talking about Sweden (where the name’s worth more than the song).

Imagine saying names are more worth in Melfest where in other NFs some can jusy say hello and win the selection ?

Cornelia Jakobs still takes the semi for me, interested to see what’s on the (green screen?) behind her.

Everyone else except Shirley Clamp and Danne Strahed are in potential to qualify imo.

These are dull. Luckily, it is Sanremo night!

It’s funny, I don’t like Sanremo’s favorites of this year (not denying they’re great entries, they’re just not my cup of tea, though), but even the “worst” songs are miles better than these lol

I mean, unsurprisingly, there’s nothing amazingly original or groundbreaking here…so I’ll go with what looks like it’s being performed the best and most professionally-delivered (since that’s what seems to be valued more in Melfest anyway)…Omar and Robin DTF. Cornelia AC…and I really don’t mind about the last spot.

I don’t really like anything in this semi.
All songs are like something we heard before.
Anyway, I do think that cornelia should go dtf but swedes don’t vote for ballads usually so she will probably go to Andra chansen at best.

Omar is a clear non-qualifier. He is overhyped by little girls and will flop, because only one age group is going to vote for him.

i mean his song is terrible just like his music in general but after his popular netflix show he might squeeze in

But as I said before..not that popular in sweden. And the ones who have seen the show are the same group that likes theoz.

It’s not like there was something really better in the semi… I think he can get a spot in final as well as he could fail. All of them could. Only Robin will be DTF because it’s Robin.
