“Dos Extraños” is one of the slowest and most tender songs in Benidorm Fest 2024. But do you know the sad story behind it?
This slow bolero which turns into a bachata is a melancholic entry in which st. Pedro embodies a lover who accepts the fate of a tortuous relationship.

Benidorm Fest 2024: st. Pedro – “Dos Extraños”
st. Pedro was on The Voice of Spain in 2017, but his path led him to Miami. Originally from the Canary Islands, st. Pedro usually does Latin flavoured music, including bachatas.
This time, he’s trying with a bolero – a genre that was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by Unesco in December 2023. This Latin genre has never graced the Eurovision stage.
Several of his songs have over one million streams. He has released an album, but curiously, it is a Christmas themed CD. st. Pedro — real name Pedro Hernández — has been releasing music since 2018, and most of it has been solo. He doesn’t seem to have any connection to Eurovision… until now.
What do the “Dos Extraños” lyrics mean?
st. Pedro’s entry is a quintessential heartbreak song: he speaks about the beautiful beginning, the painful break-up and the sad melancholy that follows. “Now we are two strangers”, he repeats over and over.
He recalls the moments spent with his lover, and how happy they were, but also the sad moments: “Caresses were lost between yells”; “We loved each other so much, we hurt each other so much that now we are two strangers”.
At the end, when the bolero turns into a slow bachata, st. Pedro accepts the fate of his love but confesses he misses them: “Love, my heart broke”; “Even if I miss you, this has no solution”.

beautiful !
I spent a year living in Tenerife and this song brings me back, great to hear the accent, it’s a beautiful song!
I really hope this wins this year’s Benidorm Fest, it’ll stand out at ESC and the song itself is unprecedented (in an ESC context), ethereal, soothing and timeless
Voy a cruzar mis dedos.
Definitely the best song in the selection for me and a chance for Spain to get a really good Eurovision result.
It’s the best song at Benidorm. After a highly dynamic top 3 last year, I’m expecting many countries to go dancy in Malmo. if so, he will stand out.
I can speak spanish and I love this song so much – it remembers me of my favourite island, namely Tenerife.
Mucha suerte, St-Pedro !
Not a fan of the song initially but I could warm to it live! I just want to say that there’s definitely more to St Pedro’s own story with the lyrics and that they are very sad and romantic! He could steal the show!
Spain 2025 if they choose him…
This is so timeless and beautiful! Emotional, warm and soothing!
I really hope this goes to Malmö and I am sure it will make a difference and we will speak about it in years too!
Also he is from Bajamar, such a lovely little spot on the northern coast of the island. If you ever get there, be sure to check out the natural pool by the ocean

I almost already have Salvador-Vibes….
Idk why, but he gives me the impression of a guy who really likes being rimmed…
wtf
Oops… someone is horny
Comments sections here can be wild, innit?
Why all of this negativity… I didn’t even listen the song, but I’ll eat his ass 😀 , just saying… why oh why people became so boring, PC and prudent ?
Everyone’s talking about the song and how they liked it, and then you come talking about wanting to rim his ass. It’s utterly off-putting, to say the least.
