Fire and desire! That sums up eurofan passion for Miss Marta Sánchez, a regular on everyone’s shortlist to represent Spain at Eurovision. Earlier this year, the artist delayed the release of her most recent album “21 días“, stoking rumours that she may sing in Wiener Stadthalle and bring Eurovision glory back to the Iberians after 46 years of ups and downs (and even more downs). Marta eventually and officially squashed all the rumours, denying that RTVE had ever approached her about Eurovision 2015.

The well-known singer, identified by many as the “Queen of Spanish Pop”, has released a steady stream of EPs and albums since 1993’s “Mujer“. After hitting #1 in the charts all over Spain and Latin America with singles like “Colgando en tus manos” (“Hanging in your hands”), singing at the world’s most-watched live music show would be the icing on the cake.

She has shown interest in waving the Spanish flag at Eurovision more than once, saying that if she’s chosen, she would “defend her entry to the death”. Marta also described Eurovision as “a unique contest, where many artists that I respect have taken part, and with unparalleled production”.

The last word will come from RTVE, and rumours will likely spread until that moment Any bets on Marta?

With her song from 1993, Desesperada at Eurovision 1993 , Spain would had strong chance to won or to be in TOP 5 that year.
I dont think that if Spain send her to Eurovision 2016 she had great chance for good placment in TOP 5, only with strong song from 6 to 10 place .

I feel like Spain should try with a male artist because we’ve had women singing either folk music or power ballads. It’s getting kinda boring. They should do a NF this year. 2014’s was great

Which Spanish artist with this category wants to represent Spain? Marta Sánchez… We should let her participate. I still remember when Spanish people complains about the fact that spanish famous artist don’t want to represent Spain in Eurovision (sorry if i made any mistake in English)

Ella no necesita ESC para notoriedad, ella es una superestrella.Si ella concursa en ESC 2016, sera por que asi lo quiera RTVE.

@ Oostenrijk

It was competently sung but the chorus sounded pretty underwhelming really. She doesn’t have the lungs for it live. Notice how much more powerful she sounds on the recording (the exact opposite of “Rise like a phoenix”: much more powerful in the live, meek and way too “polite” in the recording).

It wasn’t just a matter of an awkward and kitchy presentation and a trashy outfit. I am sure that if your friend had watched the whole show he could see that.

My baby just told me that Marta Sánchez is horrible and would make a real low score at the ESC

I am in Spain right now with my novio and yesterday we discussed if Spain would ever win Eurovision again. He didnt understand why Edurne did so poorly, but I explained to him that although her song was great and well sung, her stage performance was overly dramatic and embarrassing and did not work in her favour. Then we amused ourselves with the worst entries in Eurovision from Spain and Austria over the last years (Brujeria, Las Ketchup, DNash, Global Kryner, Tie Break, Ric Papilaya) and laughed a lot. However we both love each others 2003 enty (Dime / Weil… Read more »

Why not. I mean Spain should do well this year if they follow tradition.

Let me count the number of over-50 divas that actually succeed in the ESC nowadays… hmmm… none. Ok, Spain to the bottom again.

I’m not really a fan of her, but if she manages something as insanely catchy as Colgando en tus manos, she’d be more than welcome.

Well it was FAIL disappointing run 4 Edurne this year though..
If it will manage to be successful 4 her Marta you can’t know this..
Even if her song might even be truly winning material i really dunno if Espana can manage to win next year…A top10-5-3 result is possible but a victory is not that likely most maybe..
