In her song, she asks “are we going to lose it all?” But y’all think Belgium’s Blanche is heading straight for victory in tonight’s Eurovision 2017 first semi-final.
Back on March 20, we asked you which of the 18 acts taking part in tonight’s semi you wanted to see win. With over 28,161 votes cast in total, it was the young Belgian starlet who got your seal of approval. She took 3,507 votes, over 12% of the total.
In last night’s jury final, Blanche finally seemed to come alive on stage. She channeled her emotions and fragility in to passion — from a weakness to a strength.
Second place in our poll goes to Armenia’s Artsvik. The “Fly With Me” singer has wowed many of the ground in Kyiv with her high-art performance during rehearsals.
She’s clearly a favourite who fans around the world too. She polled just under 10% with 2,772 votes in total.
In third place is the show’s opening act. Robin Bengtsson will perform “I Can’t Go On” for Sweden. 2,560 of you clearly want him to keep on going though, as he polled around 9% of the total votes cast.
Fourth place goes to Portugal’s Salvador Sobral — the bookies favourite for the win — with 2,140 votes. Rounding out the top five is Azerbaijan’s Dihaj. Her avant-garde staging of “Skeletons” has certainly raised eyebrows in Kyiv, and 2,058 of you wanted to see her win the semi-final for it.

Based on the results, our readers think that Belgium, Armenia, Sweden, Portugal, Azerbaijan, Poland, Greece, Australia, Latvia and Iceland will qualify tonight.
That means an exit for Finland, Cyprus, Albania, Moldova, Georgia, Montenegro, Czech Republic and Slovenia. Is there a chance the “Blackbird” won’t be singing on Saturday night?
What do you think of the poll results — do you think that Blanche will triumph in tonight’s semi-final? Could Artsvik fly high? And will any of the bottom eight acts still qualify? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments section below!
For me, Belgium is the winner of the contest. This is absolutely the best song, a radio hit. And she will gain confidence. Why wouldn’t she? She’s only 17, stands alone without a show and is one of the composers of the song. 12 points!
Even if Lindita doesn’t get a single point from the televoting she will make it for sure to the finals cause the jury will award her with many many points from every country
You said…?
Belgium will most likely qualify but I don’t think they’ll win the semi! Taking into account the televote and the juries, I would say probably Armenia, Portugal or Finland!
Unfortunately for Belgium the Blanche couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.
Probably the worst vocal of the show and yes I include Montenegro and Jamala ahead of her
Blanche’s performance here is a good improvement on what was shown previously but she only really gets going towards the end.I just feel the nerves will get her. She’ll probably end up in the final but it’s the final hurdle with the massive crowds that might overwhelm her and unfortunately..that’s what counts at the end.On the music video…the best song by a country mile. I have it on my mp3 player. From a live point of view.. I fear for it which is quite sad because it’s a great song. Also from a staging point of view, quite disappointed the production team didn’t… Read more »
She will qualify, maybe not as winner but she will do well. I think it’s funny how people judge her based on videos on youtube and judgements of just a few journalists. I’m sure it will look better when you see it on tv. 🙂
A bit worried about how Australia climbs down everywhere. Perhaps not strong contender, but still decent song. And I feel ‘Hey Mamma’ is going to knock out one borderline qualifier, basing on quite positive reactions.
Deleting comments is so rude… people just share their opinion
no offence but 3507 people must be tone deaf or didn’t look at the rehearsals. If Belgium does qualify it will probably be the last one called out (gotta have the suspense and half the green room having heart flutters now)
you probably didn’t read the article, the poll starts on march 20th.
Her vocals were great in the Jury final, so I’m glad she’s ready just on time….
You clearly don’t know how the show works, do you? It doens’t matter when you are announced, they do it all randomly
Portugal, Armenia and Sweden will be in top 3 for sure. The question is in which order because these entries will do very well with both juries and the televoting. Azerbaijan, Greece and Moldova will qualify for sure. There are 3 ballads in a row (Albania, Georgia and Australia) and I do think that there will be only one “survivor “. Albania is out for me and in my view, Australia will go through (nice boy, singing a ballad from kinda exotic country for us *lol* 😀 ). Belgium is great, eurofans’ favourite and I realllyyy, reaaaaallyyy want her to… Read more »
oh God, I forgot Finland 😀 not a fan btw
Well, I would swap Greece with Finland or Moldova and that would be perfect prediction.
Based on performancr Greece not going to final….. sorry but this singing is very weak….
I hope the general voting public counters some of the results in this poll. Yes….Belgium Greece and Australia are in the top 10 but they do not sound (and sometimes not look) good. And I don’t think they will connect with the general public. Finland Moldova and Georgia would be better replacements.
100% qualifiers: Portugal, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Sweden
90% chances: Finland, Moldova
75% chances: Greece, Australia, Georgia
50% chances: Poland, Latvia, Cyprus, Georgia
under 50%: the rest
Greece and Australia may not qualify, Demy’s high notes are horrible why Australia’s song is bland and quite boring, although he’s a good singer.
Moldova will entertain the sleepy semifinal with that up-tempo song, and I think they’re qualifiers… Georgia’s song and powerful voice of Tako may bring them into the final. For the rest…they’re quite boring, nothing to stand out…
I actually think that Finland has a very good chance of winning the semi final.
Sweden and Armenia are the two absolute safe beta for the final…. The only question is, which one of them will win the semi. I am not that sure of Portugese success… Likely qualifier.. But not so sure it will be up there in the top3 of this semi…
Azerbaijan and Armenia – goodbye! Don’t get all the fuss!
It’s best if Dihaj and Artsvik stay in Kiev until Sunday. 😉
Ummm…they get a lot of “fuss” because they’re both quality entries. Armenia and Azerbaijan always bring their A game to the contest.
Belgium hahah , HELL NO , this staying in the semi
No it’s not. 🙂
Favourite to qualify, right? Ridiculous!
If Belgium qualify, it will be in 9th or 10th place. How did it win this poll over guaranteed qualifiers like Portugal and Sweden?
Poland will qualify for sure! 😉
Greek tragedy unfolding!!!
From what I hear over here there is a big chance that Greece won’t make it tonight!
Oh well next time guys please send a good song like past years when you were realy good and in Top 10 final!
There is a big chance that those who doubted Greece’s chances of qualifying tonight (that includes you) are wrong! 😀
Well Finland is going to qualify from this semi final I feel and I can see Greece or Australia been a shock non-qualifier but rest of top 10 looks likely to me unless we get a big surprise and Georgia or Albania qualify
Based on the live performances I’m almost sure Finland will qualify
She will qualify but Portugal pr Armenia gonna win semi final
