Eurovision 2015 host country Austria is on the make. That’s right, people. Tonight during the “Wer singt für Österreich” final, Austria got behind The MakeMakes and their song “I Am Yours”.
Six acts performed in the preliminary round — which was decided by a 50% jury and 50% televote split. And then The MakeMakes slayed Dawa in the Super Final, which was decided by 100% televoting. The people have spoken!
THE MAKEMAKES – “I AM YOURS”
INTERNATIONAL JURY RESULT
Austria did its little Melodivestivalen voting with having 10 international juries to vote for their favourites. The judges were from Italy, Spain, the UK, France, Germany, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Latvia, Israel and Australia.
TELEVOTING AND JURY COMBINED
While the jury voted, Austria had its chance to vote for their favourites via televoting and this their result:
TELEVOTING RESULT – SUPER FINAL
After Round 1, Dawa and The MakeMakes were voted to the top 2 and were the Super Finalists. The winner was decided by 100% public televoting, which was determined to be The MakeMakes with the song “I Am Yours“.
What do you think? Can Austria reach the Top 10 again? Let us know.
Yay another dull boring ballad is just what we need this year.
Seriously Austria this is worse than TRACKSHITTAZ
What a classic kind of song. I think the commenters want more upbeat songs instead.
The song is fabulous! Definately my top5. I have a suspicion that last year’s success of “Calm after the storm” encouraged some more sophisticated artists to try to compete at Eurovision. I’m so glad that the appearance of Eurovision has been changing (especially in the comparison with the previous decade…) thanks to such songs from Austria, Estonia, Belgium, Ireland, Cyprus this year and the Netherlands last year. Perfect!

This feels very much like a host song, its hard to explain it. And yes I thought it sounded like a Beatles cover or something haha.
Yay! Yet again, my favorite entry wins. Bueno.
This is a really nice song. Yes, it’s “familiar” and similar to “The Scientist,” but still really nice. Reminds me of Billy Joel. I think the jury will like it quite a bit too.
nice cover from The Beatles!
oh wait! isn’t this a cover? I thought it was
JA JA Coldplay – The scientist. Very original. I THINK THE SAME
Not a fan, sry.
I don’t find it interesting.
I guess it’s listenable…but nothing more…no way top 10!
Not bad…. If Ireland make the final I can see them taking points from each other though…. Belgium Latvia and Spain remain my top 3
Well, quite a disappointment. Austria seriously should stop holding national finals. I hope my country will fail in the grand final. This song deserves to be in the bottom 10
I like this song, good choice.
Nice song but i dislike them…
They can do descently in the Diamond Vision under certain circumstances if it works 4 them..
PS. In the case of Portugal, the winning song is definitely the safest out of the songs that were in the finals. They could have gone with Fado song or an uptempo song by a middle-aged guy. Midtempo ballad sung by a beautiful girl is the safest out of those.
I would disagree. Greece is a country that usually always chooses dancing entries and uptempo. This year they went with a ballad, which is very different *for them*. Moreover, it is a very memorable ballad. Romania has a subject that nobody else in the contest has, or had (at least in last few years). We only heard the snippet of Russia, but I agree, playing the world peace card is safe (especially since *they* did it two years ago). And for Azerbaijan, I agree, the always played safe so far, although they might surprise us this year. I do not… Read more »
A word: boring…. it’s just ok… for a country that sent Conchita last year, this is so dull…
Dawa would have been more interesting….
It’s pretty obvious that Austria don’t want to host again in 2016. If this song was in the semis it definitely wouldn’t qualify. Sorry Austria 🙁 your country is beautiful though 🙂 In reply to a previous comment calling Ireland and Germany “safe” I think you are mistaken, those 2 countries are 2 of the best entered this year, as a lot if other countries just sound the same this year, IMO Ireland and Germany stand out. Portugal is far from safe either as even when their song is very good they still struggle to qualify so your comment is… Read more »
Great song, classy! Congratulations from Poland!
1. Latvia 2. Austria 3. Belgium 4. Germany 5. Slovenia
@Robyn I was in Easter Island last summer and read about Make-Make, but that comparisson didn’t occur to me until you mentioned it lol.
I don’t think even calling themselves after a cool polinesian god would make these dudes more interesting tho :/
OMG, you people, who wanted Zoe, next female singer, tell me, why do you want to destroy Eurovision? Btw her song was disgusting and in French (are you really crazy, if you don’t have a doctor, I will find one for you).
The MakeMakes are good, because it is band (thanks god omg!!!), but next ballad (oh nooo). Zawa was the best choice. Band with up-tempo urban song.
And to answer the initial question on will Austria again be in Top 10:
Yes, they probably will, but almost all host entries are. It is almost sleazy to see how international juries suck-up to the host country no matter what.
Not that *this* song is bad or anything…
Why does he perform with his eyes shut? -_-
I would have preferred Zoe, but this one is ok too. I am bit tired of how much ‘ok’ safe choices has this year produced (Ireland, Portugal, Germany and now this, just to name a few). It is dull when you have little to complain about, and yet, not enough to praise.
Snorefest yet again. I miss quel filou already! That one was so catchy.
Don’t really like it.
Boooooooring
JSB 🙁 Zoe 🙁 Celina 🙁
Coldplay – The scientist. Very original.
Don’t like it, too safe a choice. I think it’ll place Top 20 but won’t go much farther than that.
Dissapointed Austria went for such a safe choice, Dawa and Zoe were better and more interesting imo. The Makemakes are decent but dull and vanilla. JBS were horrid on the night, I was rooting for them, but their results were more than fair.
I love it, but Quel Filou was definitely better
Zoe was better, even bilingually, but it was definitely the next best. A decent song.
Seriously, top 5, 8? It is contender for last. Boring. Bad choice.
It’s nice but dull.
First Oida Taunz, and now JSB… Learn how to fucking vote, Austria. That being said, this is still a decent entry and probably the best choice after Absolutio.
I smell a Top 8 ….. amazing choice!
Great Song Austria! Top 5 for sure!
