On March 22 we asked our readers to start voting for their favourites to win Eurovision 2015 semi final 1. As of 23:59 on 5 April, we had collected an astouding 57,357 votes. We hope Belgium’s Löic Nottet and Russia’s Polina Gagarina like each other, because at the moment they are right on top of each other.
That’s right people. Following a stellar live performance of “Rhythm Inside” on Belgian radio, Loïc has climbed into a narrow lead with 9,210 votes — or 16% of all those cast. That puts him just 15 votes ahead of Polina, who recently gave a stellar live performance of her own. It looks like going live — and doing well — is a key ingredient to slaying in this poll.
Estonia’s Elina & Stig, who recently released a super glossy music video, are a close third with 15.4% of all votes. And behind them in fourth is Albania’s Elhaida Dani — the stunning singer behind “I’m Alive”, and the proud owner of a cat named Kiki.
Based on our poll results the other qualifiers for the grand final will be Georgia, Armenia, Greece, Romania, Serbia and the Netherlands.
Our poll suggests that Belarus, FYR Macedonia, Denmark, Hungary, Finland and Moldova will fail to qualify.
Current standings: Semi Final 1 (as of 5 April)
- Belgium: Loïc Nottet with “Rhythm Inside” 16.06% (9,210 votes)

- Albania: Elhaida Dani with “I’m Alive” 15.03% (8,621 votes)
- Georgia: Nina Sublatti with “Warrior” 12.4% (7,114 votes)
- Armenia: Genealogy with “Face the Shadow” 7.96% (4,565 votes)
- Greece: Maria-Elena Kyriakou with “One Last Breath” 2.72% (1,559 votes)
- Romania: Voltaj with “De La Capat” 2.6% (1,494 votes)
- Serbia: Bojana Stamenov with “Ceo svet je moj” 2.5% (1,433 votes)
- The Netherlands: Trijntje Oosterhuis with “Walk Along” 2.36% (1,356 votes)

- FYR Macedonia: Daniel Kajmakoski with “Lisja esenski” 1.27% (730 votes)
- Denmark: Anti Social Media with “The Way You Are” 1.01% (582 votes)
- Hungary: Boggie with “Wars for Nothing” 0.87% (501 votes)
- Finland: Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät with “Aina mun pitää” 0.77% (441 votes)
- Moldova: Eduard Romanyuta with “I Want Your Love” 0.73% (417 votes)
Total Votes: 57,357
Don’t forget: this poll is open until the eve of the semi-final in May, so anything can still happen.
What do you think of the results? Do our readers have it right?
Here are my top for the whole competition: 1. Estonia( i am in love with this song, made a lot of personal versions, even dedicated to a person i care) The others aren’t that good. 2. Slovenia ( beautiful retro and unique voice, i like to listen to it) 3. Italy ( low on italian standart but for eurovision we cannot expect much) 4. Albania ( annoying lyrics and storyline, amazing voice. Elhaida change the song another time, its just not the right one for you) 5. Azerbaixan ( its ok, but not something that remains on your mind) 6.… Read more »
I’m obviously very late for the party here, because I spent the last 6 days evaluating the songs and videos. I will evaluate them twice more before the contest.
Here is what my first evaluation of Round 1 looks like:
9.46 Hungary
9.36 Estonia
9.36 Romania
9.32 Macedonia
9.31 Greece
9.31 Georgia
9.28 Armenia
9.28 Belgium
9.24 Russia
9.24 Belarus
@Eugene ESC UK: Hum… “You need to chill out, drop the aggressiveness (and the “!!”) and calm down with the cyber insults (although I admit that “troll” and “stalker” are funny easy-to-use words). (…) So relax!” End of the story. 🙂
@Eugene ESC UK: Wow… Why are you so aggressive? You have your opinion, I totally respect it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t give you mine. That’s called “discussing” and that’s what the comment section is for. If you don’t want others to answer your comments, why are you posting? Troll = “One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument”. Can’t really recognize myself in that. As for “stalking” you, I think I only replied to 2 of your posts, so same. You need to chill… Read more »
@Eugene ESC UK: Oh, I totally agree that these polls are wrong most of the time, I said it several times. But you on the other hand, assume two things: 1) That Wiwibloggs creates a hype around Belgium, whereas I only recall a couple of standard articles (eg: when Belgium revealed their song and when Loïc released a live version – normal articles that they wrote on every country; and a “death match” with the Netherlands – which they did for the Baltic countries and for Sweden/Azerbaijan). Can’t really see where the “hype” is… 2) Even if that hype did… Read more »
Albania, Armenia, Romania, Netherlands, Serbia, Estonia, Belgium. Don’t really like any of the other songs AT ALL. The worse of the two semi-finals.
I AGREE WITH THE TOP TEN SONGS BUT NOT WITH THE RANKING.
TOP 3 GREECE ESTONIA RUSSIA
15:Finland l
14:Hungry
13:Moldova
12:Denmark
11:Romania
10:Belarus
09:FYR Macedonia
08:Georgia
07:The Netherlands
06:Albania
05:Armenia
04:Belgium
03Russia
02:Greece
01:Estonia
If we have Russia by draw in second semifinal, they wili be in big problem to go to final . They have lucky to draw in first semifinal with another 5 soviet countries, plus Serbia and Greece .
Eugene ESC UK
Yes we had draw, but why all countries from ex soviet union didn t in one spot like ex yugoslavia plus albania, and than we would have 5 in one semifinal, 4 in other Ukraine didn t compet this year. We all know that Russia wili get points from 8 countries , and Armenia from 7 coutries only Azerbaijna from ex soviet univo wili give them 0 point. Same for Azerbaijan points from 7 coutries from ex soviet union and only 0 point from Armenia.
The Netherlands
Albania
Belgium
Greece
Eugene ESC UK Yes it luck, because of 9 ex soviet countries we have 6 in first semifinal with Russia, and in II semi final only 3 coutries from ex Soviet Union. We have same situation in 2009 , 2013 in semifinal with 6 countries from ex Soviet Union in one semifinal. For voting in past, in 2014 we had that country could be at 7 place with only 89 in final like Russia, Norway on 8 place with 88,Denmark on 9 place with 74 and Spain on 10 place with 72 we had 37 countries at that contest. In… Read more »
I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS RESULT, BUT IN OTHER ORDER, I THIK THEY ARE THE 10 SONGS THAT MOST DESERVE THE FINAL, SORRY FOR HUNGARY I LIKE THE SONG BUT EUROPE DONT LOVE TO MUCH
Eugene ESC UK We knew how Russia got votes in 2014. In some countries first or second on televote in final and only 24 to 26 in final and get 0 point in final. In Estonia 2 on televote , 21 with juries, 10 on combined list only 1 points. In Montenegro first with televote, only 24 with juries, combined votes 12 place 0 points. Russia in second semifinal wili maybe stay in semifinal for the first time. But they have lucky in draw to be in semifinal with another 5 countries for former Soviet Union, and countries where people… Read more »
Finland only have chance to go to final thank to juries .
My prediction that Finland wili be finish like Sweden 2010, Norway 2011 , strong contender on betting odds to win Eurovisiion who don t go to final from semifinal.
Eugene ESC UK
I think that Russia dont have any chance to win I semi final. 100 % from 3 to 5 place in semifinal, thanks to votes from 5 ex soviet countries in semifinal and Greece and Serbia.
I don’t see Belgium qualifying. My favorite is Georgia but, objetively, I think Slovenia is the winner.
I don’t know who will qualify but I expect Finland to be a surprise qualifier and take someone’s spot who should actually be there.
I honestly find the Belgian guy to be extremely annoying as does his song. Honestly, I can see why a lot of people like this, but I just can’t stand it. Here are my qualifiers: 1. Russia (will most likely finish first thanks to ex-soviets and jury) 2. Estonia 3. Greece (the juries will definitely vote for this) 4. Armenia (this will get significant amount of votes from ex-soviets plus the jurors who will appreciate the complexity of the song and the opera) 5. Albania 6. Belgium 7. Georgia 8. Serbia 9. Belarus – This song will get a lot… Read more »
I don’t know about Belgium. Chorus is okay, but the rest of the song? And will it be good live? Really not sure about his vocals.
Clear qualifiers are Russia, Estonia, Albania and that’s all. Anything could happen and I think both semi-finals will be full of surprises.
Clear semi-final 2 qualifiers are Norway, Sweden, Azerbaijan and Slovenia and the rest will be big surprises (like Montenegro and Portugal qualifies and Latvia doesn’t).
@mitchelvaneik, i guess you are from the Netherlands. Do you not want to support your neighbours? And our song is not overrated, greetings from Belgium. I only hope Europe will appreciate a non typical eurovision song. Because that was the meaning of my country. We don’t have to win the semi, but i want to be in final this year, loic deserves it.
I’d say the top 10 so far is quite acurate (not necessarily in that order) but I would exchange Serbia for Belarus.
As in the NF season, these results will be nullified. 🙂 I do suspect that maybe Belgium will miss the Final this year.
The Wiwi poll curse will strike again. 🙂

@Eugene ESC UK: “It’s obvious why Belgium is leading, it is because this site has been overhyping and overrating it”. Of course, and it has nothing to do with the fact that perhaps people like this song? What an arrogant comment.
My TOP 16
1.Estonia
2.Romania
3.Serbia
4.Greece
5.Belarus
6.Georgia
7.Belgium
8.Albania
9.The Netherlands
10.Denmark
11.Moldova
12.F.Y.R Macedonia
13.Russia
14.Hungary
15.Armenia
16.Finland
But I think TOP 16 will be
1.Estonia
2.Greece
3.Russia
4.Romania
5.Georgia
6.Armenia
7.Belarus
8.Belgium
9.Albania
10.Serbia
11.Moldova
12.Denmark
13.The Netherlands
14.Finland
15.F.Y.R Macedonia
16.Hungary
Belgium first and the three worst songs at the bottom, yeah! Georgia is not the hot favourite any more? What a shock 😛
Oh, Hungary will qualify I think because it is like Hungary 2013 ( a sweet and calm song ) mixed with Hungary 2014 ( the very depressive message ).
So weird. On the overall winner of the contest poll if you take away Georgia, who is leading the poll, Albania comes second followed by Estonia. ( I didn’t read any of the comments before I wrote this so if anyone has already pointed it out, I apologise in advance)
Anyway Belgium and Russia both have good songs, but Albania, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, and FYR Macedonia are better (unpopular opinion I know).
lol @ Lena. They are so NOT going to win. Anyone can see that, i mean hear that…the song is not something that could win esc, give it up girl. Focus on something better like Russia <3 Peace. The songs i predict to get a final ticket: Russia: that voice *_* and a very commercial song Belgium: personally i hate it, but it stands out and he will get the 'girls vote' Estonia: best duo, very good quality song Albania: great draw, great song and a strong voice Georgia: another i hate, but it's very different and she looks good.… Read more »
Armenia is going to win. It’s has a social message. And I am sure it will win. I think the song is really cool but one thing is lacking. I love Geneology. And they deserve to it
In this semi as long as Estonia, Belgium and The Netherlands get through I’ll be happy 🙂 I can’t vote in this semi so if someone else could do the honours I’d be grateful 😉 And to whoever it was below who wrote that Belgium is always overrated that was only last year and it was clear it was significantly overrated, other than that though…
The bottom four is fine but Serbia and the Netherlands need to join them. Genealogy are lucky that they are Armenian because their song is poor.
I can’t understand why Belgium has so many votes, I hate it… And why Hungary doesn’t qualify? It’s a nice song, not a winner but it’s good.
I’d switch Belarus, Macedonia and Hungary in for Russia, Serbia and Romania. But overall, pretty accurate.
Ryssland, Albanien, Georgien och Grekland förtjänar inte att gå till final. Jag hoppas det blir så. Danmark och Nederländerna hoppas jag gå till final, det är dom bästa låtarna i semi 1.
Russian entry is the only one good, sharp and catchy entry this year. The rest is dull and they all are idiots and losers!
I hope Russie gets booed at again.
My top ranking on the 1st semifinal
1) Georgia
2) Holland
3) Estonia
4) Hungary
5) Denmark
6) Albania
7) Armenia
8) Russia
9) Serbia
10) Belarus
11) Greece
12) Romania
13) Fyrom
14) Belgium
15) Moldova
16) Finland
The poll is very unreliable & corrupted…Too many thousands fake votes…I really wonder about how many votes of these 57.357+ are truly real…
And do not get me started about the whole ranking of each entry of the 1st semifinal…Just a mess..
Russia’s song “like the same boring song that have won in the last two years”? What planet have you been on since 2013? Agree that Russia is dull this year, but should not be bracketed with Denmark 2013 and Conchita. Both HUGELY deserved their wins.
1) Albania
2) Georgia
3) Russia
4) Estonia
5) Romania
6) The Netherlands
7) Belgium
8) Belarus
9) Armenia
10) Hungary
Greece, Denmark, Finland and Moldova had a lot better in their national final.
FYR Macedonia and Serbia going both English this year. I liked their songs a lot better in their own language. I especially hope Serbia flops hard, they can’t just break a tradition of singing in their own language and make a song 100 times worse with cheap lyrics.
I think Belarus will qualify if their staging is anything like as good as their video (with the hourglass).
Everything is perfect except FYROM, they should qualify instead of Romania
belarus will not qualify this year….. STILL LIKE KOLDUN’S SONG BETTER!
+ I don’t want Greece to qualify.
Estonia & Albania dot
i would be totaly fine with these qualifiers, the problem is that although the bad song finland will pass bc of their story.
Nooo not Russia… their song is such a disgrace. Concerning its message it is 100% hypocritical to send another such song while Russia again and again proves that it is nothing else but a state of braindead leaders and abuse.
Stage performance is different than studio one, be it live radio. Song of Russia is the same boring songs that won Eurovision the past couple of years. Hopefully this trend will be over this year. As to qualifiers the poll is quite accurate as to people voting. The juries are less predictable and is where some games will be played.
