The City of Lights is poised to become the city of Junior Eurovision 2021. And on Tuesday France Télévisions shared renderings of the JESC 2021 stage design where all the magic will unfold.

The images show a large performance area at the centre of the stage, which is flanked by two bridges.

They’re instantly reminiscent of the iconic Pont Alexandre III bridge that spans the Seine in the French capital near the Invalides. The Beaux-Arts beauty comes through in the instantly recognisable gilt-bronze statues of Fames, which honour the arts, sciences, industry and commerce. The kids are never too young to appreciate some culture!

Paris is known for its rich cultural offer. Out of the great variety of venues, the organisation decided that La Seine Musicale would be the home of Junior Eurovision 2021.

The venue, which resembles a ship, was built in 2017 and has quickly established itself as part of the beating cultural heart of the city.

The stage design honours its iconic setting while showing the ambition of the host broadcaster. It also plays well to the season, as the show will take place a week before Christmas. As @esc_news writes in our Instagram comments section: “Amazing combination between Christmas and Paris vibes.”

The slogan for Junior Eurovision 2021 is “Imagine”. Organisers feel that it’s simple and effective.

“First of all, for the echoes of Valentina’s song that won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw last year. A nod to Valentina and her beautiful and energetic song. But ‘imagine’ is more than that. It is also the ground of creation, an incitement to dream. It is the playground of the mind to build a better world, a new world. The power to imagine is infinite, especially for children. And it is something we need more than ever today”. They say “So let’s imagine together!”

19 countries will participate in the contest . That’s a huge jump after only 12 countries participated at the last edition in Poland.

This is simplicity at its best, yet very French. Or, as we like to call it in our language, “Singkat, padat, dan jelas”.

All that’s left to know is who the MC trio is.

what a great design after all, a great combo of Christmas, Paris (with the Eiffel tower) and winter. but it would be somehow better if the venue was in Accor Arena aka Bercy Arena (which should be their choice if they someday win their grown-up counterpart, although they can also pick Paris La Défense Arena if they want to do what I call as “Düsseldorf mode”).

it looks dreamy and expensive. French TV ain;t playing, they want to host Eurovision too and they will do it sooner or later.

it looks very disney – but as its a kids contest i guess thats ok, i hope the audience becomes a flowing river of blue. I likethe lights almost forming part of the bridge and that tower will be an icon reminder of where we are. im thinking 7.5 out of 10 with a view to more when its in action.

Imagine being stupid at this point…..

So they simply replicated the Pont Alexandre III bridge and placed it on either side of the stage? It looks like a prop from a movie set, I’m disappointed.

I wish they took the bridge idea and modernized it instead.

As the years pass, I like JESC stages more then the ESC stages.

It’s different, I like it.
Hopefully Rai would make a similar choice, giving us something more unique…

It’s been less than a year, I don’t think it’s out of line to still be upset about it. I really wish I could feel more hyped about France’s JESC hosting, since they’ve done a terrific job so far. But there are a few lines that should never be crossed in Eurovision in my opinion, and one of them is using pre-recorded vocals instead of singing live. It feels disheartening that the EBU just denied it and said nothing more. Oh, and absolutely no shade at all on Valentina, none of this were her fault obviously. The adults around her… Read more »

You mean the adults far from her, in the host country last year for example…

the eiffel tower in the middle had a huge chance of looking really cheesy and cheap, but i actually love what they did with the stage design

I love this! A lot of Eurovision venues feel like they could be anywhere, but this feels like a stage that will always remind you we’re in LA FRANCE, BÉBÉ!

if this is how much effort they put in for junior eurovision, “imagine” what they would do if france ever won the adult contest…

Looks good and atmosphery. It gets that winter feel because of the darkness combined with the little lights.

It’s about time we had another article about Junior Eurovision on this site. The stage design looks beautiful and incredible. It really feels like the Parisian cityscape is brought to the stage. I Can’t wait to see it In action.

Exceptional. This is what you get when you stop giving the job to someone who just puts a led screen and a catwalk. Bravo la France

I wouldn’t be mad if Rai does the same thing and do a stage design like this

I really like this, it reminds me of eurovision stages from the 90’s which relied more on structures rather than lighting and screens and therefore required more imagination by the stage designers, it also made each year feel very distinctive.
somehow this feels very French. looking forward to seeing it in reality.

It’s Amazing, no doubt France would do a superb job hosting the main event if they win soon.
