Elliott – one of the 12 acts competing in Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez 2022 – is a young artist with multiple talents. As a singer, composer and also dubbing actor, we got to know him a bit more during an interview.

The least we can say about Elliott is that he is full of energy. At 24 years old, this young artist has already had multiple experiences in the musical field. At the age of seven, he joined a school of opera singing, where he also learned music theory and instrumental practice. At the age of 14, he decided to devote himself entirely to music and moved to Paris to compete in The Voice France.

A former member of the collective “Cover Garden”, a YouTube channel gathering young singers, Elliott knows success on social networks. He is also a voice actor for television and movies.

Interview: Elliott (Eurovision France 2022)

Despite being a musician with eclectic musical tastes, ranging from Lana Del Rey to Troy Sullivan, if Elliott was to to represent France at Eurovision he would above all want to share his emotions with the public:

“It’s downright crazy, I still have trouble realising the fact that I am in the 12 French finalists. Representing France at Eurovision would be a way for me to share my emotions with a wider audience, which I find magical. In my opinion, music has powerful powers: it can soothe, make you happy, and make you feel less alone. The fact that I can bring these feelings to people who don’t speak the same language as me fascinates me.”

The song “La Tempête” (The Storm) was specially co-written for Eurovision. The lyrics combined with the pop tune of the song tell the story of a protagonist who was able to take revenge on a painful past. The story directly echoes that of Elliott, who had to travel a difficult path to reach his goals:

“My song is called ‘La Tempête’, I co-wrote it especially for Eurovision. I really see this song as a victory over a painful past. For a future full of pitfalls certainly, but from now on more serene because I am much more armed. It is a journey of love, hope and fighting spirit. I am finally taking control of my life and life no longer has control over me.”

Elliott hopes that, through these lyrics, people will realise everyone has a strength within them that makes them able to face any difficulty:

“If the public were to retain only one thing of my song: We all have a strength that lies within us to face any storm and only we ourselves can know the extent of our strength.”

Moreover, it is on this idea of inner strength that Elliott defined his three mantras:

“My current situation is not my final destination” / “Always do my best” / “Always try to be a better version of myself”

Although he was both overwhelmed by Barbara Pravi’s performance and moved by Duncan Laurence’s staging, Elliott plans to offer a completely different concept. The young singer wants to offer something that will make sparks fly:

“To do something electric. If I win the final, I can’t wait to start working on something original!”

To conclude, Elliott would like to send a message to all those who fell in love with his song:

“A big thank you for taking the time to read this interview, I hope to convince you with my universe and my song ‘La Tempête’. See you soon”

Love the song a lot, I’m so sad that it is so underrated. But I get thet it might not be the most competitive. But a good stage show could change that?

I remember back in 2019 when Belgium sent Eliot Vassamillet, some people, including me, mistakenly thought at first that this Elliott was the Belgium’s representative, considering they look quite similar. Funny old times.

I’m obsessed with this song. It’s hard for me to comprehend why it hasn’t received as much support as it deserves. When I searched for the lyrics, I thought they were gonna be cheesy AF, but actually they are really nice, it’s empowering for oneself. Anyway, whatever result he gets, hope he’s proud of his work and his team.

He looks like Tilda Swinton in that pic.
