One night could never be enough, so it’s time to share the highlights of night two of Italy’s Festival di Sanremo 2024.

During Wednesday’s show, 15 of this year’s competitors reprised their songs. The others didn’t get the night off, though — they were helping the hosts introduce the acts.

Amadeus was of course back to guide us through the night. He was joined by Giorgia as co-host.

Join the discussion in the comments below. Let us know who upped their game compared to night one.

Festival di Sanremo 2024: Night two

Results

The curtain has just fallen on the second night of Sanremo 2024. Half of the 30 contenders in this year’s edition of the traditional Italian festival took the stage for a second consecutive night, facing evaluation from both the radio jury (50%) and the Italian televote (50%).

As the show reached its conclusion, Amadeus and Giorgia unveiled the night’s voting outcomes, with a notable departure from previous years – only the top five contenders were disclosed:

  1. Geolier – “I p’ me, tu p’te”
  2. Irama – “Tu no”
  3. Annalisa – “Sinceramente”
  4. Loredana Bertè – “Pazza”
  5. Mahmood – “Tuta gold”

Positions 6 to 15 remained undisclosed, building suspense for the full ranking, which will be unveiled on Saturday night.

Looking ahead to Thursday evening (Night 3 of Sanremo), the remaining 15 acts will showcase their songs once again. This time, their performances will be evaluated by a combination of 50% televoting and 50% radio jury.

Who was your favourite of the night? Do you think anyone has increased their chances of winning? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

He wants to show his talent, creativity and promote his new songs by participating in their most famous song festival (every year). San Remo is so much more than a national final. It’s the best place for promotion of quality in Italy and many other countries. The bonus is, the Winner gets to participate in ESC. Mahmood is just so good and charismatic that he can easily win this year too. I honestly do not want to see him in ESC again. In case he wins, I really want him to pass on the ESC participation to someone else! But… Read more »

I think what Loredana Bertè is living right now is a kind of “Tribute moment”.
A special celebration to the career of the most unconventional and rebel singer Italy’s ever had. A wild, rock beauty, with huge melancholic eyes. “Sei bellissima”, “Il mare d’inverno”, “Non sono una signora” are just few of her many successes. She was personal friend of Basquiat, Wharol and many other artist.

Annalisa is the only one remotely interesting to me, so I would like her to be the winner.

Overall, I think this is the weakest Sanremo in the last several years, by far. So many below-average and just ok radio friendly songs, generic, songs that diverge from the common “Italian music” are just so weak.

“Generic songs that diverge from the common Italian music”? Are we watching the same show? I think the best thing with San Remo is that it does match the italian music industry pretty well. Which also can be seen on Spotify and Itunes a very long time after the show…

Yes, it does. But I am not listening only “Eurovision music” as it often seems to be the case with many people here, and I know something about current trends and Italian music scene and therefore I feel it is weak. I never had a feeling of fatigue when I watched Sanremo, now I had. Preselection was also weak, and they even didn’t select right songs to go through.

Arystophan

The songs are superficial, the language simplistic… Ultima must feel the mediocrity and poverty of the lyrics. The mainstream opposes the sophistication of the brain. And if someone really thinks that the music is good in Sanremo, it is both through lack of knowledge of what we call “original and elaborated” but also through lack of spirit, which is linked to the formatted side of the brain in most humans…

No wild guess that if Angelina Mango had competed yesterday, Annalisa would have ended up fourth. I still think Italy will send a woman to Malmö – but that it wont be Annalisa. When adding all things up in the superfinal I reckon Ms. Mango will be victorious… Unfortunately I´d say, Sinceramente is a MUCH better song.

I agree with you. I also don’t like Angelina’s song. But it has the most chances to win imo. And it will be a shame for me since Italy is always extremely high in my top and it will this year as well as long as they don’t send Geolier or Angelina.

I don’t like Geolier’s song but it will have a very enormous televoting I fear. The juries will most probably avert his victory though. I think Irama can’t win either (unfortunately) because the televoting once again won’t be enough. As of now it’s between Annalisa and Angelina I think. If that’s the case I 100% would choose Annalisa. Yesterday I was positively surprised by Dargen D’Amico’s song. i loved Annalisa’s “Il mondo prima di te” a couple of years ago but not this song. Similarly I feel Mahmood has had better songs and Loredana is just Loredana.

Although I suppose there would be certain justice for Loredana singing for Italy in Malmo when her older sister represented Italy in the same city in 1992.

i really really like him and his songs,
but,to be honest,he isn’t the superstar
that you could think;
Soldi and Brividi are of course very successful songs,
but his albums
not so much;
his latest album, for example, charted only for around ten weeks in the top 100,
while Marco Mengoni’s one
has been in the charts for more than 100 weeks.

Also his concerts are almost never sold out and they are all in very small venues.

Annalisa got third. Definitely should have been 1st and at this rate she won’t win Sanremo. Lordeanna overperforming as always. Irama rightfully getting the position he should be but this is proof that he’s more popular with the audience and that they have taste rather than the radios, broadcasters and juries from the first night! “Tuta gold”, the meaning of Mahmood’s song at Sanremo The protagonist is a boy who starts to look back, who rethinks his life up to that moment. He is outside a rave party tent and there reflects on his adolescence, on what hurt him in the past and how this made him stronger. He is the one wearing the famous “tuta gold”, a suit in acetate, that synthetic material that many wore in the 90s. This is a symbol of comfort and at the same time has a great meaning: in the most common place and in the simplest garment… Read more »

Being 3rd for the second night in a row while the previous 1st place of Night 1 fell to 4th place indicates she actually has a consistent result on both nights, and I think top 3 on both nights bodes really well for her once she ultimately makes it to the Superfinal and starts gaining the votes from songs that didn’t make the cut.

Like, ultimately, all that matters is you make it to the Superfinal on Night 5.

Mahmood was 3rd place at the end of the 4th night in 2019. Måneskin wasn’t even in the top 3 (They were 5th) at the end of Night 4 in 2021. She’s not out of the running nor robbed… YET.
