Armenian broadcaster AMPTV has now revealed the 12 acts who will compete in Armenia’s revived national final Depi Evratesil. The line-up includes top talents from both Armenia and the Armenian diaspora, including the Armenian Greek singer Athena Manoukian and French-Canadian The Voice runner-up Miriam Baghdassarian.
The broadcaster confirmed the lineup today, along with details of how the finalists were selected.
Among the competing acts is Athena Manoukian, the Armenian-Greek singer who competed in Greece’s national final for Junior Eurovision 2008. More recently, she appeared on the 2018 series of the X Factor UK, however she did not make it past the Bootcamp round. Athena has previously spoken of her desire to compete at Eurovision.
Armenian-Canadian singer Miriam Baghdassarian is best known for her 2018 appearance on La Voix — the French-Canadian version of The Voice. There she finished second overall.
Armenia’s Junior Eurovision champion Vladimir Arzumanyan is now trying his luck with the Eurovision Song Contest. He previously won the 2010 edition of the contest with his song “Mama”.
Also on the list is TOKIONINE (aka David Badalyan), the vocalist who was one of the songwriters behind Srbuk’s “Walking Out” in 2019.
The line-up is rounded out by a number of other Armenian acts of varying styles. But sadly, with these 12 confirmed, it means that other acts missed out this year. The outrageous Kamil Show will not have the chance to bring more broccoli, while boy band DETQ won’t have a chance this year. We hope we will see more of these acts in the future!
The broadcaster received 53 valid applications. From that, an expert jury selected the 12 finalists. The jury considered diversity of genres, suggesting that we will see a variety of styles. The jury included Naira Gurjinyan, Anita Hakhverdyan, Lilia Nikoyan, Ruben Babayan, Vardan Hakobyan, Tigran Danielyan, David Tserunyan, Karen Tataryan and Anush Ter-Ghukasyan.
The 12 competing songs will be released next week. The grand final of Depi Evratesil will take place on 15 February.

What do you think? Who do you think will win Depi Evratesil 2020? Who are your favourites in the lineup? Tell us your thoughts below!
Just imagine having both Destiny and Vladimir this year :3
Why does Athena have so much hype? She reminds me of most Greek female singers and from what I know her career flopped in Greece
She is not even near the level of Eleni Foureira, ivi adamou or elena paparizou. She was just on a big record company and had 2 singles. That was it
The Harutyunov (both father and son) were fan and jury favourites in Russia’s Voice. Karina EVN also took part in the Voice of Russia. I checked Erna, Hayk and Gabriel Jeep. All of them are very good. Miriam, however, is the best known among the audience. So, the battle will be between the Harutyunov and Miriam. Athena stands no chance. Some participants may also surprise us with good songs. One jury member said there’s no clear favourite song, so the competition is wide open.
Had Puerto Rico been Depi’s winning song two years ago, last year’s contest might very well have been in Yerevan. Getting back to 2020, my two favorites are Miriam and Erna.
We find where Greece will give the 12 points (if they send Athena I hope)
well, dont be so sure. She just had 2 singles that didnt do really well tbh 6-7 years ago…..
It’s clearly between Miriam and Athena. Vladimir is dated and the rest are unknown to the most ppl. An internal selection would be better tbh
How can a human being be dated?
Pretty sure the date is printed on the birth certificate…
he means his music
Athena is big no from me ofcourse. Much worse case than a girl “with international team ” we had in previous Depi Evratesil. But man …. Armenian Eurovision selections have never been so poor. I mean after checking couple of participants I was shocked brrr. I honestly can’t get how on the earth Detq didn’t qualify or even Gevorg Harutyunyan while Gabriel Jeeg or Hayk Music did. I wanted to vomit listening to amateur tastles music (garbage) in their fb pages . I wonder how it comes that Gevorg Harutyunyan’s song which was composed by Aram MP3, Garik Papoyan and… Read more »
Troll
Kindergarten…. why am I supposed to be troll just wonder:)))
Clearly you don’t have good taste in music by saying you don’t like those with a team of another nationality. We need something new for Armenia this year and since there is like no diversity in Armenia, I am all for it in allowing someone new with an international team to perform. You won’t make it far with boring Armenian ballads just because they have “good vocals.” Also the detq band rightfully so didn’t qualify as everything about them is so unoriginal and tbh a ripoff version of the Jonas brothers, they don’t even have good vocal skill. Sorry if… Read more »
Your comment isn’t rude but simply bit ….Let’s say…. it has no logic. The thing that I find that it is dull and stupid when countries compete in a SONG CONTESTS with songs composed abroad and by composers who have no connection to specific competing country doesn’t mean that I have bad musical taste. I suppose you are very young so you hurry up with you conclusions. And I’ve got to admit by far I’m not a fan of Detq or Gevorg Harutyunyan ROFL. I just consider the most part of other participants are even worse than Detq and Gevorg.… Read more »
Very good group! And man, if we do in fact get Stefania, Destiny, AND Vladimir, it’s gonna be JESC: All Grown Up!
