National broadcaster RTVSLO received the second highest ever total entries for this year’s Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA) national final. An expert jury panel selected 8 acts and songs to compete in the final, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Slovenia’s Eurovision predecessor Tinkara Kovac, who hosted tonight’s show alongside Darja Švajger, Maja Keuc and Nejc Šmit. In the end, it was Maraaya who got the ticket to Vienna, with “Here For You”.

EMA 2015 – Jury Evaluation

The tried-and-tested format used to select Maja Keuc in 2011 made a return for EMA 2015. Just like last year, all the finalists performed on the night under the confirmed running order.

Once all 8 acts have performed, it was up to the the juries to make their decision. And they have decided that Maraaya and Rudi Buchar feat. Figoni have advanced to the EMA Superfinal. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to the other six acts including Jana Šušeršich and Martina Majerle, who occupied the top 3 spots on our poll.

EMA 2015 – Superfinal

The two remaining acts performed again and it was all down to the televoters to decide the winner. In the end, Maraaya came out on top to win EMA 2015 and represent Slovenia in Vienna! It looks like our readers definitely agree.

EMA2015_superfinal_results

Like Tinkara did in last year’s contest, Slovenia will perform in the second half of the Second Semi-Final on 21st May.

Are you happy that Maraaya won? Do you agree with Slovenia’s decision? You can watch the entire show again here.

Hmm… after listening I think I’m the only one who would’ve been fine with the second-place song winning. Really neat, eclectic song with dynamics and tempo changes everywhere, and a traditional sound. Sounds like something Moldova would make, but much less cheesy. Still, Maraaya’s song is really good too, and by far the better choice for Eurovision. Bravo again to Slovenia.

As much as I appreciate Martina’s song, it was far too similar to Sanna Nielsen’s “Undo” for me to see it faring well at ESC.

As far as I can see, I’m the only one who doesn’t like this song… Is this from the 60s or something? Maybe it will grow on me after a few listens…

My new guilty pleasure for this year’s contest. She and her song needs more love. C’mon, people!

This is ok…the 6 songs announced this weekend have all been so disappointing, this is a lot better than the others. The Baltic and Iceland really are a million miles ahead of everyone else. Its the UK’s best chance of winning provided what we release next week isn’t total crap too. Really gutted about the songs in this years contest so far.

Really cool that this act won and will represent Slovenia in the Diamond Vision of Vienna! 🙂
4 the record, *Here 4 U* was my 2nd most liked song from the 8 as *ALIVE* was my no1 but i’m glad that Maraaya won the EMA! <3 🙂
I was supporting only these 2 songs 4 the victory and one of them thankfully won! 🙂
Thank goodness that *Slatinka* did not win instead! I can't believe that this song went to the superfinal and *Alive* did not! Really injustice!

Congratulations to *Maraaya*! <3 🙂

I am especially glad that since Markus Riva lost in Latvia, we got another song with similar topic. And her voice sounds so alike Duffy, which is a good thing.

Maybe not a winner, but certainly by far the best song chosen tonight – well done, Slovenia! It takes a few seconds to really get into it, but this should be an easy final qualifyer.

I think Marayaa was the only choice Slovenia should have made. Definitely my fave from the songs picked this weekend.

Slovenia always gets ignored, huh… so many negative comments on the other countries’ entries, but with this one where the comments are mostly positive, there aren’t as many in total. I guess people just like being negative?

Wonderful!!!

I think they should change the first few seconds to something that draws more attention, but after that, it’s an excellent song.

I really like the song itself but I don’t like her singing style. Not sure where it ranks so far for me, maybe 6-8th?

How predictable is Slovenia lol, every year it’s clear what song they’ll choose.

A 10/10 from me. Thankfully we avoided a near disaster.
