The Czech Republic has been quiet for a while. We even thought they might have forgotten about Eurovision, as we were expecting an announcement in February, but the game is still on. Ceska Televize is involved in intense preparations for the contest and they’ve decided to push the red button and drop a hint.
This big pink-violet-blue “G” is the thing to keep your eyes on, but what does it mean?
Previously media in the Czech Republic were debating over three names to follow Marta & Václav at Eurovision — young guitar player Thom Artway, brotherly duo Light & Love and musical diva Dasha. So from that list, it is hard to point at the two male acts, as their style does not fit the colours and edginess of the image – they are more into light and optimistic music. However, we still cannot rule them out entirely.
Then we are left with Dasha. We don’t know what we can expect from her, as she is not known for her own music. So she might unveil her secret side and “G” might have to do something with the song title. But Dasha’s participation might be complicated as she is pregnant and Eurovision could be too stressful for her (but it didn’t stop Trijntje last year).
But let us put these old rumours aside and turn the spotlight to something new. There is one and only name that comes in mind when you see the mysterious “G” — Gabriela Gunciková. The finalist of Czechoslovak Superstar in 2011 has always been one of the biggest favourites to fly the Czech flag to Eurovision. Her unique and powerful rock voice won over the Czechs and Slovaks, so is it about to be heard by the whole of Europe?
And Gabriela might have dropped a hint on her Facebook page suggesting involvement with Eurovision. In February she was in Stockholm working on “something really special”. Was it her Eurovision song?
Are you excited? We definitely are! What do you think about the teaser? Let us know in the comments below!

But i really hope, it wont be Gabriela … Im rooting for Light & Love
Birgit was 5 months pregnant in Malmo too… 🙂
@jr esc nl @Loo Thanks.
I tried on a different device this morning and I was able to watch the video. Will put opinions in a Frans post though, not Czech Rep. x
@david who
I had the same thing yesterday but it seems to be available now.
I think it’s pretty obvious who it’ll be, given that stylize G! Now, when are they going to announce it???
What’s with the broadcasters hinting this year?
First Armenia then France then Australia and now The Czech Republic.
Have the EBU told them to build hype this year?
The G looks very much like a nintendo gamecube logo.
I hope Czech Republic makes it though, I so want new countries in the GF
What a voice. Czech Rep has the singers with the strongest voices. Marta and Vaclav last year were perfect. Czechs must be screaming often, if they have so strong voices 😀
Nope, still nothing. Might be a technical problem here. I’ll try with a different device tomorrow. 🙂
Well it’s on VEVO so it should?
Nice idea Loo, but the video doesn’t seem to be accessible from this country?
Wiwibloggs! You should write about Frans new video to “If I were sorry” It’s brilliant.
