It’s less than a week until Swedish broadcaster SVT reveals the 28 acts who will compete in Melodifestivalen 2019. Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet today reports that girl group Dolly Style and Idol 2017 runner-up Hanna Ferm are confirmed, while schlager prince Magnus Carlsson and singer-songwriter John Lundvik have found the right songs to enter.

Dolly Style

Following the recent shocking news that Polly III was leaving the girl group, Aftonbladet is now reporting that Dolly Style will make their third appearance at Melodifestivalen.

The colourful trio made their Melfest debut in 2015 with “Hello Hi”, and followed up with “Rollercoaster” in 2016. Both songs made it to the andra chansen round before being eliminated.

The group confirmed that a “new member of the Dolly family” would replace Polly, however they haven’t said if it will be another Polly or a new character. The band’s frequent lineup changes mean that the Dolly Style of 2019 will be completely different to the three singers who performed in 2015.

Hanna Ferm

Eighteen-year-old Hanna was the runner-up on the 2017 series of Swedish Idol. She got her start on the 2014 series of Sweden’s Got Talent and made it as far as the semi-finals. In February, Hanna released her debut single “Never Mine”.

Earlier this week, Hanna returned to Idol as part of Celebrity Duets week. She performed “Up Where We Belong” with competitor Bragi Bergsson. Also performing duets were Melodifestivalen stars, Wiktoria, Felix Sandman, Benjamin Ingrosso and Mariette, who delivered a show-stopping performance of “Shallow” with William Segerdahl.

Also said to be confirmed for 2019 are schlager prince Magnus Carlsson and singer-songwriter John Lundvik. Both singers were reported to be looking for the right song to enter in Melfest. Aftonbladet‘s source says that each has found the right song and will be part of the 2019 lineup.

Aftonbladet has also reported that Jon Henrik Fjällgren will perform a song by Melfest and Eurovision veteran songwriter Fredrik Kempe. Active in the Swedish national final for over a dacade, he has penned songs as diverse as “Popular”, “Undo”, “Blame it on the Disco”, “Bada nakna” and “Fuldance”.

Jon Henrik doing a song written/co-written by Fredrik Kempe worries me.

I hope Molly P.H. makes the lineup.

Yeah Dolly Style is coming back, with 3 different girls, but what about Hanna Ferm? Does anyone know anything about her? Or is the focus on Dolly Style a sign that she’s forgettable.

Dolly Style are a pure guilty pleasure, I loved their last attempt “Rollercoaster” they’re great fun and channel the inner Bruno Tonioli within me! glad to hear John Lundvik is rumored to return as “My Turn” was my winner of Mello 2018, the atmosphere would’ve been so fitting for Lisbon but wonder if he’ll sing another ballad or turn the tempo up?

Or do you mean ‘over and done’? Not to mention that this is an entirely new lineup (i.e., Dolly Style 2.0). In my opinion, when the last original member of ANY group leaves, is fired or dies (especially the lead vocalist if there is a perennial lead)–or, for mulligan’s sake, the first of its replacements (usually the longest-lasting replacement)–that group is technically dead, and what you have in place is basically a “tribute” group. Here in the U.S., Jon ‘Bowzer’ Bauman (of Sha Na Na) was among those who fought to keep tribute groups or groups entirely of replacements from… Read more »

I’m afraid I have to agree with this. They come with an interesting stage setup; but first and foremost, it’s all about the SONG; and we have seen twice that the songs are not quite good enough to make it to Stockholm.

Now, if the original lineup in 2015 had come to the stage with “Cherry Gum”, THAT song would have made the final.

And I just mentioned Menudo in this thread. Is Dolly Style on its way to becoming the Menudo of MelFest, where every 2 or 3 years they show up with a different lineup?
