Saturday 7 May was the final day of second rehearsals for Eurovision 2022. Each of the Big 5 countries took took to the PalaOlimpico stage for another run-through ahead of next week’s grand final.
We saw Sam Ryder shred a guitar solo, Chanel whip out a fan, and Malik Harris play a multitude of instruments. Mahmood & BLANCO were reunited, while Alvan & Ahez took us to the mystical forest. But who impressed you the most?
You can scroll through our homepage to read our reviews and watch our reactions to each act. You can also view the official 45-second teases released by the EBU in the posts.

you can’t be objective and answer something other than UK or France
My favourite 2nd rehearsals of the big 5 has to be the UK.
he got the staging ,the charisma and the vocals to prove the people who downplayed the song wrong?
Bruh why “?” Wiwibloggs moderation…
I’m Italian and I have to admit that the Italian performance was a true disaster, the best for me was UK!
Anyone has a bad day. Italy will be fighting for victory for sure. ??????
My personal top 5 of the Big-5 of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 (after the second rehearsal): *1. United Kingdom* – “SPACE MAN” (SONG: 10/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL EFFECTS, OUTFITS: 10/) – (1ST REHEARSAL: 10/10) *–(OVERALL: 30/30)* *2. France* – “Fulenn” (SONG: 7.5/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL EFFECTS, OUTFITS: 10/10) – (2ND REHEARSAL: 10/10) *–(OVERALL: 27.5/30)* *3. Germany* – “Rockstars” (SONG: 6.5/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL EFFECTS, OUTFITS: 6.5/10) –… Read more »
*forgot to change my grading at Italy’s rehearsal, it was supposed to be a 7/10. :))
To be honest, I used to find the French act circus-like and Tanxugueiras wannabe (yes I know the song was composed before the Spanish selection, but the staging was obviously a copy) , but they have sold it to me! It is my favourite of the big 5! Go France!
Do you think so? I know it’s not their fault, but I cannot help to compare them with Tanxugueiras and I still think that the latter have 100 times more charisma and strenght, apart from better voices.
Tanxugueiras were just shouting the same stuff over and over again, you’re lucky those jurors picked something else after all, Terra would have been completely overshadowed and outclassed by Fulenn in Torino…
Well they clearly didn’t have enough Charisma or strength to defeat Chanel and represent Spain. The people of Spain chose the correct song and its really paying off. Tanxugueiras would have been ‘Tanked-ugueiras’ in the finals.
Spaim is dejavu, UK is try hard. Italy is the best out of them.
Yes, yes, not with those rooster voices 😀
How is Spain ‘de ja vu’ and how is the UK ‘try hard’? Both countries are always at the bottom of the scoreboard pretty much year after year. The one year where they work so hard and bring their best efforts you decide to call them try hard??? Sorry your own country has let you down, but try not to be bitter. Just be happy for Spain or the UK for actually trying this year and for getting some great feedback.
I am Spanish and my favourite one is the UK. Obviously I am so happy that both Chanel and Sam did so well at the rehearsals.
But, people here thinking that Italy will flop? There is no way that may happen. Even if they did a bad rehearsal, believe me, when the right time arrives, they’ll give a perfect performance.
Spain was the most slick, i love the camera angles i think they really sell the performance. UK and France are also incredible i love their stagings. Got to hand it to Germany, his voice is strong and it’s not too bad on stage, but i’m still not a fan. Italy just need a bit more time, you can hear their voices are tired and i’m sure they’ll give better performances come the final.
UK, France and Spain are miles ahead. Italy might not do as well as predicted. Germany is just there.
France and the United Kingdom.
France and Spain are slaying, with the UK right behind, and Germany also doing well for the package they have. I’ll stop there.
The song gives me brividi, the rehearsal does not. I hope that they are back in their A-game for the finals.
I am sure they will. Don’t sleep on Italy, at the right moment, they never let us down!
Brividi flop era
UK and France.
Isn’t it interesting to observe Spain-devotees flocking to Wiwibloggs and UK-devotees flocking to ESCyounited!
British hype
Reflects the odds as well. There are many brits betting on their own entry right now.
Why wouldn’t they? They finally have a shot.
1. Spain
2. UK
3. France
4. Germany
5. Italy (which was my 3rd of Big 5 before that awful 2nd rehearsal)
My personal ranking of the big 5 pre rehearsal based on official video.
My ranking after 2nd rehearsal based on the 30 second clip, taking into account staging and live vocal
Sam Ryder is a planet on his own in this contest. Sooner than later we’ll be able to say that another huuuuuge star rose from Eurovision. Mark my words! We’ve got a true gem this year, people! ?????
I like France … a lot. But the staging? It feels messy with unreleased potential. Love the Italian entry …. but those vocals … no. hence my vote goes to the UK! It has always been in the running for me and with a live vocal like that and a stunning staging there is no doubt in my mind. Spain superior to everything else when it comes to choreography … but the song … no, no, no. Germany decent and likeable … obviously very talented guy … I wish him good luck!
I have ‘sinned’ and i have watched the last minute of Chanel’s performance and O M G. I am not biased because it is my own country because I tend to be very critical, specially with my own country but the performance is truly amazing. The last minute is like a marathon in 1 minute.
I cannot understand those saying this is not ‘jury material’ if professional music related people cannot value what Chanel does (not only dancing but singing while she does what she does) i dont know who could.
What do you mean 2002? Singers dont dance and sing anymore? Better songs? That is your opinion.
You’ve done nothing but kiss her ass all year.
Is there perhaps a link to see the last minute?
But in 2002 there were not any pre-recorded vocals to help. Crazy how people have already forgotten this point after just 2 years.
So I’m not impressed by these dance tracks full of if not entirely (romania ?) covered by pre-recorded vocals.
Slo Mo would win in 2002 with a large margin.
It’s quite good, but I prefer Slo Mo. But okay, France and Malta would be the only ones giving it a competition.
It’s okay.
France, Malta, UK, Estonia, Latvia, North Macedonia, and Switzerland had okay to good songs in 2002. Not denying that. But I do personally prefer Slo Mo. 🙂
If someone needed a reminder that this years’ Big 5 was flying over the competition, then these rehearsals would the ideal illustrations. Each one of their staging has its own concept and no one looks like another. All of this sounds credible, unique and completed packages strongly identified with cultural elements from the country they are representing. This is such a contrast compared to last year and for the first time in while, the situation where we always have three automatic qualifiers in the bottom 5 might be reversed into a top 5 finish for a majority them ! I’m from the UK and the French song is my favourite, and it has been since I first heard it. Sam Ryder did take over the number one spot for me and is still up there for me, but he’s from my country and I can’t vote for him so France get my vote. The song is great, full of energy and unique to the contest this year.
I actually didn’t care for Barbara Pravi’s song last year and it was towards the bottom of my list but this year France are my favourite.
Good luck and Bon chance!
Italy are in trouble..With time running out.
France for me. I can see it being loved by the public, ethno pop songs always do well. I just hope people don’t see it as a “Shum” copy.
Spain will flop hard like Adrenalina did
Maybe, maybe not. We’ll see. I can see the appeal for the song though (and for the performer, obviously) but it’s really not my taste.
After so many flops in past years i could have agreed with you before watching the last minute of Chanel’s performance but since I watched it there is no way Spain flops.
No. Spain is a full package. Adrenalina was a hot mess.
The only fault I have with Spain is that the national selection staging worked better than the esc rehearsal footage.
1 España – Reino Unido
3 Francia
4 Italia
5 Alemania
(Estoy hablando del mejor ensayo de ayer… España y Reino Unido indiscutiblemente quedaron muy arriba)
Jus a tad biased – perhaps?
¿Parcial?
I mean it is obviously Spain, but I voted for France because it is the one that feels the most risky and I love the dark and mystical atmosphere of it.
So. You didn’t vote for what they were asking. Ok. And I wouldn’t say France is taking a risk. They are clearly trying to ride the wave of Go_a from last year. They are clearly hoping to chase a trend there. That’s risk aversion at its finest.
Maybe, just maybe, you could put some other Big 5 representers photo for this thread but.. your choice ofc.
Well my thoughts are:
UK and France were impresive.
Spain screams as top 3.
Germany.. as always.
Italy was shockingly bad, vocals were dreadful.
I’ll say Spain but I always expected them to be amazing.
France is the one that moved up the most though. Possible top five incoming.
Suzanne hates the French entry this year. Considering that she loved the Spanish entry last year, we can be sure that France will do well this year!
UK fans vs Spain fans.. ding ding ding…
Indeed… Oh Lord, I’m done! 🙂
can i love both songs?
I am Spanish. Love both of them. If there is a country I wish to do well, apart from Spain, it is the UK. We have been the losers of Eurovision last era. We know how it feels. It is about time for both of us to come back!
Agree, we should celebrate together!
